Exploring Horror in the American Northwest.

The hot sun beats down on barren earth, the cold snow drifts in slowly from a passing storm, blue skies turn to orange then purple then navy, then black. The American Northwest is a unique setting to plumb for horrific concepts. It is equally a springboard for life and growth as well as death and desolation. Unique small knit communities tied next to pop up urban centers, the old ghosts of time long since passed brush into the new monsters of an industrial uncaring world. That is where we are telling our stories.

Our Creative Journey

Founded in 2019 "The Dark of the Mountain" is a creative collective founded with the goal of creating unique horror films that take place in the intersection between rural and urban environments.

We work with local actors, we work with local supporters, we give opportunity to people trying to make scary films. The process is challenging but rewarding as we develop and enrich a team of often overlooked but amazing people. We hope by utilizing often overlooked individuals we can create unique and terrifying stories.

Funding for our projects comes from the communities we serve. By engaging and representing local talent we can find all kinds of new stories and actors. However, it does mean we move a little slow. Frights should be done right, and people deserve to be paid for their time and effort.
